The Icons collection gathers the most celebrated creations in our 180-year history — crystal chandeliers and luminaires that have defined eras, adorned palaces and become enduring symbols of Viennese lighting artistry.
From Josef Hoffmann’s legendary Palm Chandelier to the monumental 17-metre chandelier of the Palace of the Parliament in Belgrade, these designs represent the pinnacle of handcrafted luxury lighting.
Each icon is available for bespoke reproduction or contemporary reinterpretation, crafted with the same techniques and devotion as the original.

HOFFMANN PALM
A landmark collaboration between Josef Hoffmann and Ludwig Bakalowits Sen., the Hoffmann Palm is considered the most iconic lighting piece of the Secession era.
Its design, famously sketched during a private lunch among Secession members, captures the movement’s spirit of artistic innovation and modern elegance.

Gustav Mahler Hall
Created for the Gustav Mahler Hall in collaboration with architect Ceno Kosak, this lighting series reflects Bakalowits’ mastery in uniting architectural vision with refined craftsmanship.

Parliament Belgrade
Created for the Serbian Parliament in Belgrade, this monumental chandelier was, at the time, the largest in the world.
Rising 17 meters, weighing 19 tons, and illuminated by 2,600 bulbs, it stands as one of Bakalowits’ most extraordinary feats of engineering — a symbol of ambition, precision, and architectural grandeur.

MIRCALE Chandelier
Winner of the Gold Cup of the Comité du Bon Goût Français, this rounded chandelier by Friedl Bakalowits — now known as the “Miracle” — is one of the house’s most beloved designs.
Its timeless form and meticulous craftsmanship continue to define Bakalowits elegance more than six decades after its debut.

MIRAKOLOSO Chandelier
Originally conceived as an experimental counterpart to the Miracle, the Miracoloso later became the foundation for one of Bakalowits’ most significant architectural installations in the United States.
In contrast to the Miracle’s single‑bulb purity, it explores the interplay of varied glass cuts and the shifting reflections they create — a study in light, complexity, and quiet innovation.

The Trump Kennedy Center
A lighting installation worthy of the opera house it was created for, this composition stands as a design ahead of its time.
Formed from more than one hundred individually suspended lights, it creates a unified luminous ensemble that reflects Bakalowits’ instinct for innovation and the enduring relevance of its creative vision.
THE GOLDEN FLAME

Commissioned for Indonesia’s national monument, MONAS, this golden flame marked Bakalowits’ first large‑scale outdoor lighting project.
A symbol of national pride and independence, it remains one of the house’s most meaningful contributions to a country’s cultural identity.

EMPEROR CHANDELIER
Created as Austria’s official gift for the coronation of Emperor Akihito, the Emperor Series embodies 121 years of friendship between Austria and Japan.
Crafted as a trio of chandeliers symbolizing respect and cultural dialogue, it remains one of Bakalowits’ most meaningful commissions — a design still produced today with the same reverence as on the day it was conceived.

Lobby Chandeliers
For the Shangri‑La Island Hotel in Hong Kong, Bakalowits designed and produced the complete decorative lighting for this landmark property — from the entrance hall and ballroom to the VIP areas and guest rooms.
The lobby installation, in particular, remains one of the family’s most cherished creations, continuing to shine in perfect operation to this day.

Redouten Hall
Imperial Castle Vienna
First created in 1954 and tragically lost to a fire in 1992, the hall’s chandelier was reimagined by Bakalowits in 1996 for the reconstructed space.
The new design honors the hall’s history while introducing a modern expression of light — a testament to resilience, renewal, and the enduring bond between architecture and craftsmanship.
