Political pressure forces closures of the showroom but Ludwig Bakalowits manages to continue selling from a trusted associate´s residence.

Ludwig Jr. hides the entire inventory in a sealed cellar behind a false wall.

October 1945

Exactly 100 years after founding, Bakalowits reopens with intact stock — a decisive advantage in post war Vienna.
